Following the five-year extension of the zero-emission school bus transition timeline—requiring new bus purchases beginning July 1, 2032, and full compliance by July 1, 2040, NYSED has issued additional guidance:
- Districts will not need to submit an Extension Waiver until the 2032–33 school year. The current waiver application has been closed, and all previously submitted applications have been withdrawn.
- Annual reporting requirements remain unchanged. Districts must continue submitting the Annual Survey through the Business Portal by August 1 each year.
