The New York School Bus Contractors Association was proud to take part in this year’s Operation Safe Stop; an education and enforcement effort to call attention to the dangers of illegally passing a stopped school bus.
“Providing the safest ride possible to and from school is the single most important thing we do,” said Robert Pape, President of the New York School Bus Contractors Association. “Operation Safe Stop, along with NYAPT and the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee’s leadership, are critical in helping us provide that safe ride. We’re proud to assist in this effort to inform the public of the importance in obeying all school bus safety traffic laws, along with our continued support to increase the penalties for drivers who illegally pass stopped school buses”.
Operation Safe Stop is a cooperative effort supported by the New York State Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, the New York State Education Department, the New York Association for Pupil Transportation, the New York School Bus Contractors Association, the student transportation industry and state, county, city and local law enforcement agencies.
