Upstate New York Loves the Bus Amsterdam, NY - February 13, 2007 - The New York School Bus Contractors Association (NYSBCA), Brown Transportation, Inc. and Blue Bird Corporation joined the American School Bus Council in honoring more than 78 school bus drivers from Brown Transportation, Inc. during an appreciation luncheon for "Love the Bus", a national education campaign designed to raise awareness of hundreds of thousands of the men and women who safely drive more than 25 million children to and from school each day. Additionally, the "Love the Bus" campaign encourages parents, students, teachers and school administrators to celebrate "Love the Bus" by sharing stories of school bus driver friends and heroes and by making Valentines for drivers. Drivers from Brown Transportation, Inc. were given t-shirts, magnets and tip cards to commemorate the event. "The turnout for this event simply proves that more appreciation needs to be given to school transportation professionals across the board" NYSBCA President, Karen Paquette commented. She went on to say, "Not only are the school bus drivers important, but the mechanics, supervisors, directors and administrators need to be recognized. There are so many people involved in making even one bus operate safely and efficiently every day." Ron Lemoncelli, the Superintendent of the Greater Amsterdam School District, thanked all of the drivers "for working so hard each day by driving responsibly and keeping our children safe." After the luncheon, all attendees were invited to tour one of Blue Bird Corporation's school buses that included state-of-the-art safety features and technology.
